Nike Miler Repel: The Jacket, the Set and the Tracksuit

Nike Miler Repel comes in three configurations, and the difference between them is the thing most people get wrong before they buy. There is a jacket on its own, a set that pairs the jacket with shorts, and a full tracksuit that pairs the jacket with joggers. Same jacket in all three. Different price, different purpose. The whole range sits in the Nike collection, and this guide explains which one you actually want.

First, what Repel is. Nike Repel is a water-repellent finish. It sheds light rain and cuts wind, and that covers most of what British weather throws at a runner. It is not a waterproof shell. In sustained heavy rain it will eventually wet through. If you need genuine waterproofing for hours outdoors, this is the wrong product. For a 40-minute run in drizzle and wind, it is exactly right.

Below is the full line-up with prices, so you can see what you are paying for at each step.

The three configurations

Product What you get Price
Miler Repel Jacket, black Jacket only £89.99
Miler Repel Windrunner, grey Jacket only £89.99
Miler Repel Jacket Set, black Jacket + Challenger shorts £134.99
Miler Repel Jacket Set, grey Jacket + Challenger shorts £134.99
Miler Repel Tracksuit, black Jacket + joggers £164.99
Miler Repel Windrunner Tracksuit, grey Jacket + joggers £164.99

The jacket on its own, £89.99

Buy this if you already have running bottoms you are happy with. It is the cheapest way into the range and the jacket is the piece doing the real work. Black is the more versatile of the two. The grey Windrunner is the better looking of the pair worn casually, in our view, though that is a matter of taste.

The jacket set, £134.99

The jacket plus a pair of Challenger shorts. The Challenger shorts are lined running shorts and sell separately at £44.99, so the set is priced at effectively no premium over buying both pieces. This is the summer and shoulder-season combination. Jacket on for the first mile, tied round the waist or carried once you warm up, shorts underneath throughout.

The full tracksuit, £164.99

The jacket plus matching joggers. This is the autumn and winter buy, and it is the one to get if you run through the colder months or want a complete matched outfit. At £75 over the jacket alone you are paying for the joggers, which is roughly what a standalone technical jogger costs.

Which one should you buy?

Work backwards from when you will wear it.

  • Run mainly in summer, own shorts already: the jacket, £89.99.
  • Run in summer and want a matched kit: the jacket set, £134.99.
  • Run through autumn and winter: the tracksuit, £164.99.
  • Want one Nike tracksuit for general wear rather than running: buy a Club Fleece tracksuit at £109.99 instead. It is warmer, softer and cheaper, and our Club Fleece guide explains why.

How Miler Repel fits

True to size across the range. Order your usual Nike size.

There is one exception that matters. If you plan to wear a hoodie underneath the jacket, size up one. The jacket is cut for running, which means it is trim rather than roomy, and a fleece hoodie underneath will fill that space quickly. If you will only ever wear a tee or a long-sleeve under it, stay true to size.

The joggers in the tracksuit and the shorts in the set both run true to size as well. Check the sizing guide for measurements, and the ASICS set sizing guide if you are comparing against kit you already own.

What to wear underneath

A Miler 2.0 tee at £39.99 is the obvious answer, since it is the same range and the same Dri-FIT approach. Our Miler 2.0 guide covers all three colourways. In warmer weather the Miler Vest at £34.99 is the lighter option.

The honest limitations

Three things worth saying plainly. Repel is water-repellent, not waterproof, so heavy sustained rain will get through eventually. The jacket is a running cut, so it will feel trim if you are used to a relaxed fit. And at £164.99 the full tracksuit is the most expensive Nike tracksuit we stock, which is only worth it if you will genuinely use the weather protection. If you want a tracksuit for the sofa, you are overpaying for a feature you do not need.

Black or grey?

Black is more practical. It hides road spray and mud, which matters if you run on pavements in winter. Grey looks better off a run and sits more naturally with a P-6000 in 'Cool Grey'. Neither is wrong. If this is your only running jacket, black. If it is your second, grey.

Free UK delivery applies on orders over £100, so the sets and the tracksuits ship free while the jacket alone does not quite reach it. Orders placed before 2PM dispatch the same day, and Klarna and Clearpay are available at checkout. Prices correct at time of writing.

Quick answers

Is Nike Repel waterproof?

No. Repel is a water-repellent finish. It handles light rain and wind well, but it is not a waterproof shell and will wet through in sustained heavy rain.

What is the difference between the set and the tracksuit?

The set is the jacket with Challenger shorts at £134.99. The tracksuit is the same jacket with joggers at £164.99.

Does the Miler Repel jacket fit true to size?

Yes, but size up one if you will wear a hoodie underneath. It is cut for running, so it is trim rather than roomy.

Should I buy this or the Club Fleece tracksuit?

Miler Repel if you run outdoors in bad weather. Club Fleece at £109.99 if you want warmth and everyday comfort.

Are the Challenger shorts in the set lined?

Yes. Challenger shorts are lined running shorts, the same ones sold separately at £44.99.
